Are you an enthusiastic volunteer looking for a new role where your work will really make a difference? Could you support an energetic local charity to write applications and secure vital funding?

We are excited to be seeking a new ‘Fundraiser’ to help Read Easy Sheffield, a successful local charity which provides free, confidential, one to-one reading coaching for adults who struggle with reading, affiliated to national charity Read Easy UK.

The ‘Fundraiser’ is a vital and interesting role within the Read Easy Sheffield Management Team to secure funding from local organisations, grants and trusts, that are interested in investing directly into their local community. This voluntary position will suit someone who enjoys writing, making new connections and championing what we do. You receive training and support from Read Easy UK to develop your fundraising skills, so while previous experience is desirable, it’s not essential.

This role is a crucial part of the Management Team as funding is essential for Coach training, expenses and resources – so you will play an instrumental part in making sure our group thrives!

What will you be doing?

–  With the Management Team, planning how much money is needed to cover group expenses and  agreeing best approaches to fundraising.

–  Writing applications to local community funding organizations and businesses.

–  Arranging fundraising events, as agreed by Management Team.

–  Maintaining a database of funding applications.

–  Making public acknowledgement and thanks to donors.

–  Attending monthly Management Team meetings.

The role is flexible and mainly home-based so you can choose your own hours. To get the most from the role, we would hope all Management Team roles would support Read Easy Sheffield for at least one year.

Fulfillment Volunteer

wishesjust4you is a Community Interest Company dedicated to helping children with life-limiting illnesses fulfil their heartfelt wishes.

We are seeking compassionate and organised volunteers to support our wish fulfilment process. This role involves working from home, handling email and phone communications, and helping to coordinate wishes for children across the UK.

Commitment: Flexible – part-time or full-time options available.-working from home

Requirements: A genuine passion for helping children, good communication skills, and access to email/phone.

Publicity Officer

Are you an enthusiastic volunteer looking for a new role where your work will really make a difference? Could you support an energetic local charity to reach new clients and volunteers?

Read Easy Sheffield is a successful local charity that provides free, confidential, one to-one reading coaching for adults who struggle with reading, affiliated to national charity Read Easy UK. We are currently looking to expand our work and for this we need some more volunteers to join our friendly management team, and we excited to be seeking a new Publicity Officer.

Publicity Officer is a vital and interesting role within the Read Easy Sheffield team to lead on the marketing and publicity of the Sheffield group. This will involve running social media accounts, creating posters and other graphics, and proactively seeking opportunities to promote our work.

This voluntary position will suit someone who has an interest in marketing and communications, enjoys social media, and can help to champion what we do. You’ll need to be enthusiastic and self-motivated, with excellent written and verbal communication skills, and able to write compelling communications. The main focuses of our publicity include reaching new readers, advertising volunteer roles, fundraising campaigns and advocating for our charitable work.

What you will be doing?

  • Working with the team to decide on the group’s publicity needs.
  • Creating content for your group’s page on the Read Easy website.
  • Setting up and maintaining the group’s Facebook page and other social media platforms to raise your group’s profile.
  • Organising the printing and placement of posters, leaflets, and other publicity materials.
  • Identifying any specific opportunities for publicity in the local media.
  • Attending Management Team meetings, once per month.

The role is flexible and mainly home-based so you can choose your own hours – you might spend around 2 hours a week on this. To get the most from the role, we would hope all Management Team members would support Read Easy Sheffield for at least one year.

The impact our work is down to advertising volunteer roles, reaching out to new readers and advocating for what we do – so you will play an instrumental part in making sure our group continues to thrive!

Village Games Volunteer

 

Village Games Chesterfield is looking for a volunteer interested in working with adults to help with the set-up of a new walking football session. This will involve working with other volunteers and sports leaders to facilitate the session by taking registers and providing refreshments. There will also be the opportunity to get involved in leading the warm up during the session. You will be fully supported and training will be available for those interested in becoming a sports leader. No knowledge of this fantastic new sport needed! Must enjoy meeting new people and supporting beginners to access a new sport.  There is no obligation for volunteers to join in and play but are very welcome to. A first aid certificate and any sports leader qualification would be preferable but training may be available. This session will be delivered outside at Eastwood Park, Hasland and appropriate clothing is advised.

Community Engagement Volunteer

*   Monitor stock levels of Marie Curie information materials and top them up as needed.

*   Amplify the voices of those affected by terminal illness and bereavement

*   Record stock checks and activity using a simple Microsoft Office form and return it to the Community Engagement Team.

*   Look out for additional opportunities within the library to share Marie Curie’s Information & Support resources

Charlie’s Place Animal Sanctuary Volunteer

Charlie’s place, an Animal Sanctuary in Pilsley, near Chesterfield, are looking for animal lovers, happy to volunteer an hour or so in a morning or evening on occasion, to help care for a wide range of animals. The sanctuary houses hens, ducks, pigs, sheep, lambs, donkeys, and various birds, with hedgehogs and pigeons often receiving specialist care in the sanctuary hospital. If you love animals, are 16+, and you’re interested in caring for a wide range of them – please get in touch. Youth Team Leader Volunteer

We’re looking for enthusiastic and motivated volunteers to support our youth team who support young people aged 14–25. The Sunday youth group is a lively, young-person-led group shaped by their interests and ideas. Activities include:  Cooking and baking; Crafts and creative projects; Board games, Lego and physical games; Sessions with visiting specialists and complementary activities. Key Tasks: Support staff to work alongside young people; Youth work skills; Set up activities e.g. arts/crafts; cooking; music; outdoor activities; Contribute to joint staff and volunteer meetings twice per year.  Volunteers are asked to be a minimum of 16 years of age; attend induction and any routing training.  

Home Start Trustee

Help shape a brighter future for local families. Provide strategic direction and governance. We are keen to hear from people with experience in finance/accountancy, fundraising, charity governance, HR, safeguarding. Voluntary role (approx. 4 hours per month). Attend 6-8 meetings per year (in person or hybrid).

Home Start Volunteer

Parenting is tough — especially without support. At Home-Start, we believe every family deserves someone to turn to. That someone could be you! As a Home-Start volunteer, you’ll offer friendly, confidential, and compassionate support to families with young children who are facing challenging times in Chesterfield and Northeast Derbyshire. What You’ll Do: Visit families in their own homes; listen, encourage, and offer emotional and practical support; help parents build confidence and strengthen their relationships with their children. Support: Full training and ongoing support from our experienced team; Opportunities to develop new skills and gain valuable experience; You don’t need to be a parenting expert just a good listener with a few hours to spare each week and a big heart.

Trustees

Reliable trustees required to assist with the running of this independent and Award winning charity.  Having won the Kings Award For Voluntary Service in 2024 the Centre is busier than ever.  Time commitment is minimal, Approximately 6 meetings a year of around 2 to 3 hours duration.

No special skills needed but an interest in community engagement and involvement is important.  We would welcome someone with legal skills.  Solicitor or someone with that background.
