Social Media Data Analysts & Admin

In the digital era, hatred campaigns have no territorial boundaries. From one corner in southern Asia or Central Africa, one can collectively harm individuals and groups located in Chesterfield. Hatred Monitoring Centre (HMC) is a UK-based Charitable Incorporated Organization (CIO) that aims to advance education and raise awareness about racial and religious prejudice affecting minority ethnic and linguistic groups from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the African Great Lakes region, United Kingdom and beyond. The charity was registered in February 2025, and we are now working to kickstart this ambitious initiative.

Hatred Monitoring Centre is looking for dedicated volunteers in charge of tracking, recording, and creating datasets of hate speech and online campaigns against ethnic minorities, including but not limited to the Banyamulenge (DR Congo), Roma- Gyspies (UK), Rohingyas (Myanmar), Hazaras (Afghanistan)…

The charity’s object is formulated as: For the public benefit, the advancement of education in the subject of racial and religious prejudice and disharmony against minority ethnic groups in the Democratic Republic of Congo and the African Great Lakes Region, including but not limited to, the Banyamulenge, Congolese Tutsi, Congolese Hutu, Hema and Batwa (Pygmies) ethnic groups by:
a. Conducting research into the causes and effects of racial and religious prejudice and disharmony and disseminating the useful results of such research.

b. The provision of education to the public to raise awareness of racial and religious prejudice and the impact this can have on local communities across different countries, including the United Kingdom.

HMC is looking for dedicated volunteers in charge of Social Media data collection. At the initial stage, we aim to collect small-scale data across different minorities, including the Banyamulenge, Roma, and Hazara communities. The objective of this exercise is to compare how these communities are portrayed on different social media platforms and anticipate the trends of hatred campaigns in the future. The tasks of the social media data collection volunteers will involve:
Monitoring and recording Hate Speech and online campaigns: Document and track hate speech trends on social media platforms and online forums and assist in laying the foundations of creating databases for future research and advocacy. Whenever needed, volunteers can help in setting up mechanisms to flag up harmful content that requires urgent action.
Administrative and Research Support: Conduct preliminary assessment of data collected and basic research to determine funding opportunities and advise on how to best use the information gathered for an inclusive society.
– Social Media and Content Creation: Support HMC’s online presence by creating blog posts, graphics… based on the preliminary assessment of data collected. Any other relevant tasks aimed at promoting HMC’s mission and objectives.
