Fundraising Volunteer

Why volunteer for Bluebell Meadow Children’s Hospice:

Volunteering at Bluebell Wood gives you the opportunity to make a real difference to children and families who need our help. As well as making a difference to others, you’ll find it rewarding for yourself.

If you join the Bluebell Wood team you’ll be provided with training, support and guidance. As well as making sure we pay you back for your travel expenses when volunteering, we’re also able to contribute towards lunch costs. We love to recognise and celebrate our volunteers. We hold volunteer social events throughout the year, and give out Long Service Awards when you reach milestones with us. We want your volunteer role to work for you too. In our 2023 volunteer survey, 100% of volunteers said we were flexible about how much time they give to their volunteer role, and 96% of volunteers said they’d recommend volunteering for Bluebell Wood!

No matter how you choose to support us, you’ll be a valued member of the team.

“I’ve met some wonderful people and experienced some once in a lifetime moments…However, the best thing about volunteering has always been knowing that it makes a difference, in some small way, to the lives of the children and families the Hospice cares for. It has been a very rewarding experience.” – Bluebell Wood Volunteer

Fundraising Volunteer

Haven’t got lots of free time but fancy volunteering at occasional events for a brilliant cause? We’re looking for enthusiastic individuals to help at events organised by the Bluebell Wood fundraising team. Every event is different, but you’ll usually be helping with things like: selling merchandise and raffle tickets, running games, bucket collecting and marshalling at sporting events.

You might find this role suits you if:

–        You want to volunteer but can’t make a regular commitment. This is an ad-hoc role so it’s great for people who want to volunteer but don’t have lots of time. You can choose to volunteer as little or as often as you like, volunteering around your other commitments like work or study.

–        You’re free to volunteer on occasional weekends, bank holidays or some evenings. This is when most of our events are run.

–        You’re a friendly person who enjoys talking to people.

–        You want to do a role that makes a difference. It costs around £5 million a year to run the Hospice, so we rely on our events volunteers to help raise vital funds so we can continue to be there for families who need us.

“The staff at Bluebell Wood are so friendly, positive and welcoming. As a young volunteer, I felt nervous about joining a team who were far more experienced than I was. But on my first day [at an event], I was made to feel like I belonged – my ideas and efforts are always valued. The staff inspire me a lot and I learn so much from them.” – Isha, Events & Fundraising
