Village Games

Derbyshire Village Games is a highly visible, accessible community spirited sport project across rural Derbyshire.

It uses inter village competition, festivals and events to encourage people to participate in sport and recreation.

It is the catalyst to a programme of club development, coach development and volunteer recruitment, and builds village identity and social interaction.

Volunteers play a huge role in sport and physical activity, without them clubs, teams and sessions across Derbyshire would not happen. Volunteers also play a vital role in helping others get and stay active, whether it’s a family member, a friend or someone they care for.

Within this section you will find information on how you can register to volunteer, search for volunteering opportunities and get support as a current volunteer. There is also information on the IMPACT inclusive volunteering project, running throughout 2016.

The Sport England ‘Volunteering in an Active Nation’ strategy outlines the importance of the benefits of volunteering to the individual. Volunteering helps people with their physical and mental wellbeing and individual development. It also helps with social and community development and economic development.
