Sight Support Derbyshire is seeking enthusiastic, community-minded volunteers to help spread the word about our work across Derbyshire. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy being active, engaging with their local community, and would like to play a key part in raising awareness about Sight Support Derbyshire and our volunteer opportunities throughout local towns and villages across the county. It’s a great opportunity for anyone who loves chatting to people, exploring local areas and supporting a charity that makes a real difference to people living with sight loss.
Key Responsibilities:
Distribute flyers on community notice boards in your local community and/or towns, villages across Derbyshire e.g. community bulletin boards, libraries, coffee shops, shopping centre’s, supermarkets, community centres.
Ensure materials are delivered in designated areas within agreed timeframe.
Follow local council regulations and guidelines regarding flyer distribution.
Keep a basic record of areas covered.
Help host a pop-up Sight Support Derbyshire information desk at community locations or events, chatting to members of the public and answering basic questions (full guidance provided).
Represent the Organisation in a positive and respectful manner within local communities.
Requirements:
Good time management and reliability.
Ability to walk for extended periods and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Friendly, respectful, and approachable attitude.
Familiarity with Derbyshire areas or willingness to travel within the county.
No prior experience required.
Skills & Attributes:
Good communication skills.
Strong sense of responsibility.
Self-motivated and able to work independently.
Attention to detail.
Time Commitment:
Flexible; volunteers can choose shifts that suit their availability.
