
National Trust Hardwick Hall
Old Hall volunteers give visitors the chance to explore the historic ruins of the Old Hall. As part of a special agreement with English Heritage, this role opens a key part of the Hardwick estate story.

What’s involved?
- Providing an outstanding welcome and being curious about the different needs of every visitor.
- Completion of mandatory training, including Everyone Welcome and customer service training.
- Sharing with visitors how they can support Hardwick.
- Attending the volunteer estate wide induction and ongoing training events to get to know the National Trust’s values and bring them to life when volunteering.
- Becoming familiar with and then always following the National Trust’s Health and Safety Policy, making my safety and wellbeing a priority, along with that of others around me
- There might occasionally be some other activities that are of interest to you, that we could use your help with.
- Adopting a flexible attitude to your volunteering e.g. open to taking on new challenges in your role and if possible being able to be flexible with the days you volunteer
- Completing mandatory training
- Learning what’s on offer at Hardwick, so you can help visitors to enjoy a memorable day on the estate.
- Working as a team
- Being aware of any security risks and raising any concerns you have with staff.

Extra Information
- We’ll help you get to know Hardwick Old Hall, how you can help and how you will work with the rest of the team – with induction and training.
- We provide equipment to help you do this role well and safely including a radio, fleece and name badge.
- We’ll also cover agreed costs of your travel between home and Hardwick
Estate where the Old Hall is located.
