Business Services
What is a Business Services Volunteer?
Business Services volunteers provide vital support to a variety of teams across the estate.
Estate Office
Staffing the busy reception desk, dealing with enquires via the telephone, email and in person. Providing administrative support for all departments including room booking and photocopying. Cash counting experience would be helpful.
Additional duties will include driving our caddy van across the site to deliver parcels and help business services staff and the facilities team with errands. This role will suit someone who is active and energetic and thrives in a busy environment.
Volunteering and Community Team (V&C)
Supporting the V&C team to develop the volunteering and community offer at Hardwick. Tasks will include checking the volunteering email inbox, managing contact lists, photocopying, attending meetings and minute taking and other general administration task. No day will be the same and we hope that you will be keen to immerse yourself in all things V&C by getting involved in community and volunteering events on and off site.
Visitor experience team (VE)
Supporting data inputting of group bookings, and a variety of other administrative tasks

You will be introduced to the Volunteering Charter at you volunteer induction.

What’s involved?
(please note that not all Business Services roles will involve cash handling and driving)
- Providing a friendly welcome for everyone who calls in to the Office
- Responding to enquiries, bookings and general information via telephone calls, emails and in person
- Learning about Hardwick as a whole and understanding what each department does.
- Helping with routine office work such as filing, photocopying, data entry, correspondence, group bookings and so on
- Driving the caddy van across the estate to delivering parcels and items across the estate for the business services team and the facilities team.
- Working from different locations around the estate (e.g. Stableyard offices, Hardwick Hub)
- Becoming familiar with and then following relevant Trusts instructions and demonstrating our values.
- Giving any other appropriate assistance as part of the Business Services team in relation to the role of Business Services Assistant as may be reasonably requested.
- Completing all mandatory compliance training as required by the National Trust.
- A typical day at the Hardwick Estate office could comprise of anything from printing communications, transporting deliveries, cash counting and archiving important documents. Answering visitor enquiries and welcoming contractors. No two days are the same!
This role will suit people who… are well organised with a friendly and helpful nature and who enjoy being part of a team. Confident to work in a busy, sometimes demanding environment. Excellent IT skills is a must. You may be handling sensitive information and personal details so you will be required to complete an online Information Security course and sign a confidentiality agreement.
