Kitchen Volunteer

We are looking for volunteers to support kitchen chefs at Bluebell Wood in North Anston, Sheffield on any day of the week and at set times. You will volunteer as part of a team providing catering services to children and young people and their families and to staff within the hospice. This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity to meet new people and make a real difference to the families that visit Bluebell Wood. Volunteers in this role assist with some or all of the following duties: Setting up dining room tables; Basic preparation of food (e.g. Washing and chopping vegetables/salad); Clearing away plates and crockery after meals; Washing up and loading/emptying the dishwasher; Keeping the kitchen area, store-room and surrounding areas tidy and clean; Removing rubbish to appropriate areas; Performing other appropriate tasks as directed by the chefs.

We currently need volunteers for the following days/ times:

Mondays- 9.30am-1pm

Wednesdays 9.30am-1pm

Thursdays 12.30-3.30pm

We are looking for volunteers who:
• Are friendly, respectful and have good communication skills as you will be meeting
with families, staff and visitors
• Are willing to work as part of a team
• Understand the sensitive and confidential work which is carried out at the hospice
• Are able to cope well under pressure in a busy kitchen environment
• Are able to operate kitchen equipment under supervision (training provided).

Volunteers are asked to be a minimum of 16 years of age and attend induction and any routing training
