Guide Dogs-

What will you be doing in this role-

  • Following Guide Dogs Puppy Raising for Excellent Partnership PREP programme to raise and prepare a puppy to become a guide dog.
  • Using our guidelines to care for your puppy for example exercise.
  • Getting your puppy use to a wide range of environments.
  • Teaching your puppy to be alone by gradually building up from a few minutes to a few hours.
  • Attending regular puppy classes.
  • Metting regularly wit Guide Dogs representatives to discuss your puppies development.
  • Completing regular on line questionnaires to help us monitor puppy progress.

What are we looking for? –

  • Have time to raise a puppy.
  • Be physically able to handle a large breed dog.
  • Have your own car or have access to a car.
  • Have your own home or written permission to have a dog in the home.
  • Have access to a secure area where the puppy could go to the toilet during the day.
  • Be able to access online content and training materials.

Training-

This role has a 13 hour training –

  • PREP training.
  • Ongoing training virtual and face to face as part of the role.
