
SAIL
You primary role will be to provide a pro-active service for adults who are survivors of sexual violence, child sexual abuse and incest. In this role you will be the first point of contact for those seeking support and advice on sexual abuse and incest. Other roles will include signposting clients and both making referrals to and taking referrals from other agencies. Training and resource packs will be provided.
What special experience do I need?
GCSE English and Math’s A – C or equivalent. Experience Working with vulnerable people. Experience of providing advice, support and information to a range of people. Ability to communicate a wide range of information and emotional support to people in crisis situations who may have complex needs. Helpline experience. Knowledge Good knowledge of Sexual Abuse (SA), Sexual Violence (SV), Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) and incest issues. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop good relationships with colleagues, volunteers, outside agencies and users of the service. Able to work effectively and flexibly within a team setting. Good listening, support and advice skills demonstrating the ability to assess the needs of callers. Able to demonstrate a non-judgmental attitude. A high level of professionalism and quality of service with the ability to maintain professional boundaries. An ability to work within an often-stressful environment and be able to work on own initiative with minimal supervision. Good understanding of adult and children’s Safeguarding and of confidentiality. Ability to respond appropriately to people presenting in crisis over the phone. A commitment to follow the policies, procedures and principles of SAIL and be committed to the empowerment, support and equality which underpin all the work undertaken by SAIL. Good communication skills and telephone manner. Compassion and empathy with service uses. Willingness to engage with training and professional development. Resilience and ability to cope with the effects of difficult, intense and distressing cases of abuse.
