Barrow Hill Engine Shed Society
Barrow Hill Engine Shed Roundhouse Shop is the first point of contact for the majority of visitors so the most important requirements for undertaking the role are a happy smiling face and an ability to interact in a friendly and welcoming way with people from all walks of life. An interest in history and the railways is welcome but not essential as training will be given across the site. Prior experience of using a till and credit card machine at the beginning and end of the day and money processing is helpful but again not mandatory as full training will be provided. Volunteers can work various shifts and there is a shop rota which all volunteers have access to in order to book shifts. The Shop volunteers are also encouraged to assist with stewarding and car park marshalling at our events (Open Days, Galas and Special Events). It is a requirement of volunteering at Barrow Hill Roundhouse that all volunteers should also be members of Barrow Hill Engine Shed Society.
