Do you have an hour or two to spare each week? Would you like to support elderly people living with sight loss, and make a real and meaningful difference in your community?
Our Befriending Service supports people across Derbyshire who are over the age of 50 and living with visual impairment. Many of our service users live alone, are unable to leave the house easily and often experience difficulties with daily living because of their sight loss. They can become socially isolated and experience chronic loneliness. Our Befriending Volunteers are a valuable and much needed source of person-centred support as they offer companionship and help with tasks such as reading, guided walking, shopping, and getting out in the community, where appropriate.
You’ll bring:
  • A warm, friendly personality.
  • Good clear communication skills.
  • No experience needed-just kindness and reliability.
We’ll give you:
  • Expenses reimbursed
  • Full training
  • Ongoing support from our team of Befriending Coordinators
