The aim of our meet and greet volunteers is to provide a happy polite and helpful service to our patients and visitors, by assisting them with a variety of enquiries and signpost or escort patients to the appropriate department.

Responsibilities/tasks:

· To make patients, visitors and the general public feel welcome

· Greet patients entering the hospital

· Offer support to patients requiring directions to departments and wards.

· To reassure anxious service users or visitors.

· Help to provide an efficient service for staff and patients within the hospital

As a volunteer, you will be expected to:

· Maintain appropriate confidentiality.

· Adhere to all guidelines for Infection Protection and Control, including adequate handwashing and PPE.

· Treat colleagues, patients and relatives with respect and compassion at all times.

· Act within the limits of your skills and training provided.

Personal qualities:

· Excellent communication skills

· Polite and approachable

· Professional friendly approach

Shopfloor Volunteer

Our Sales Floor Volunteers are the first point of contact for customers when they enter our charity shop. You will be greeting customers, helping them find the items they’re looking for and answering their questions, with help on hand from the shop team. You will provide invaluable help in the running of the shop, keeping it stocked and attractively displayed.

Typical tasks include:

· Helping customers on the shop floor & providing good all-round customer service

· Promoting our campaigns and any instore sales to customers

· Working on window and shop displays to make them look their best

· Keeping the shop tidy, clean and well organised – some light housekeeping

· Helping your fellow volunteers and staff with customer queries

Community Engagement Volunteer

Be the voice of Marie Curie in your local library network. Are you passionate about making a difference in your community? We’re looking for dedicated Community Engagement Volunteers to support Marie Curie’s outreach efforts across libraries in North East Derbyshire. This is a unique opportunity to help raise awareness of the vital support services Marie Curie offers to people living with terminal illness and their families.

What you’ll be doing:

As a Community Engagement Volunteer supporting libraries, you will:

  *   Take responsibility for 3 – 6 local libraries, depending on your location.

  *   Build positive relationships with library staff and engage with library users where appropriate.

  *   Share key information and offer a listening ear to others

  *   Monitor stock levels of Marie Curie information materials and top them up as needed.

  *   Amplify the voices of those affected by terminal illness and bereavement

  *   Record stock checks and activity using a simple Microsoft Office form and return it to the Community Engagement Team.

  *   Look out for additional opportunities within the library to share Marie Curie’s Information & Support resources

Greeter & Garden Volunteer

The LEVEL Centre Rowsley is an accessible art centre and charity. We work with disabled creatives and artists and display art and digital installations for visitors. We would love to hear from people who have an interest in welcoming our visitors or helping with creative activities at our open days.  You’ll become part of a welcoming community who are passionate about helping others, and meet new people along the way. Don’t worry if you don’t have experience of volunteering – we are here to support your volunteer journey.  Our volunteer roles are designed to fit around you and your life so if you only have a few hours to offer here and there we would still love to hear from you. The Fulfilment Volunteer is a Community Interest Company dedicated to helping children with life-limiting illnesses to fulfil their heartfelt wishes. We are seeking compassionate and organised volunteers to support our wish fulfilment process. This role involves working from home, handling email and phone communications and helping to co-ordinate wishes for children across the UK. Commitment: flexible – part-time or full-time options available; working from home. Requirements: a genuine passion for helping children, good communication skills and access to email/phone.

Youth Team Leader Volunteer

Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice are looking for enthusiastic and motivated volunteer to support their youth team who support young people aged 14–25. The Sunday youth group is a lively, young-person-led group shaped by their interests and ideas such as cooking and baking etc. Experience of and working/volunteering with young people, ideally in a group setting; have experience and be confident supporting young people with complex needs; understand the value of young-person-lead activities; be willing to volunteer as part of a team; share ideas;  a good communicator; friendly; enthusiastic; have exciting ideas for the youth work. Volunteers are asked to be a minimum of 16 years of age and attend induction and any routing training.

Home-Start High Peak (Chesterfield & North East Derbyshire) is seeking new Trustees to join our Board and play a key role in guiding our strategy, supporting our team and ensuring we continue to provide high-quality life-changing support to families with young children.

As a Trustee, you will:

  • Provide strategic direction and governance
  • Fund raising or income generation
  • HR, safeguarding or charity governance
  • Lived experience of parenting or using family support services
  • You dont need previous board experience – we’ll provide a full induction and ongoing support.

We are especially keen to hear from people with experience in:

  • Finance or Accountancy
  • Fund raising or income generation
  • HR, safeguarding or charity governance
